Samsung Galaxy 3III Update

The Galaxy SIII update rolled out yesterday only a few months after the original Jelly Bean rolled out. I know because I got giddy when I saw it appear in notifications! This will bring you up to 4.1.2. Here's what to expect. Oh and just a quick tip. Always try to do a back up before you do an update, just to be safe. If you are subscribed to BackUp Assistant you are good to go!

One of Samsung's "Next Big Things" (Galaxy SIII) Gets Jelly Bean

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Dec 13, 2012 3:22:00 PM

For some reason I had myself thinking "the Next Best Thing that's Already Here" aka the Samsung Galaxy SIII already had Jelly Bean but alas it does not. It is still on Ice Cream Sandwich. So guess what, a device that I already thought was outstanding is going to get better. Trust me Jelly Bean is awesome! If it just included Google Now, I would be happy but the upgrade has much more than just that. It like Christmas morning is here already or will be Friday because that is when the update starts rolling out. A few Verizon devices already have Jelly Bean like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Droid RAZR HD family of 2.

Here is Verizon's release:

You already know that I'm a geek so it shouldn't surprise you that I heart the Partridge Family! The question is what did I wake up in love with? I had the Jelly Bean update waiting on my phone when I hit the snooze on my alarm. I actually got up since there was a update instead of going right back to sleep. That's one way to wake this Gadgetista out of a slumber!

RAZR MAXX and RAZR MAXX HD to get Jelly Bean Lite Finally?

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Nov 30, 2012 4:11:00 PM

Click on the thumbnail above for full details

I'm not going to lie...I have been desperately waiting to get the most of my Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD. I mean with a name like Droid RAZR MAXX HD shouldn't it just give you the most right from the get-go? Well here's the deal. Any time now an update will be rolling out and here is what you can look forward to with the upgrade to the Android Operating System 4.1 (Jelly Bean). By the way, I'm calling it Jelly Bean Lite because there is a Jelly Bean 4.2 as well.

Just the right information at just the right time. Get today’s weather before you start your day, know how much traffic to expect before you leave for work and when the next train will arrive as you’re standing on the platform. Cards appear throughout the day automatically.

Sometimes you’d rather just speak your search query. Android lets you search the web with your voice, and it’s convenient for getting quick answers on the fly. It speaks back to you and is powered by the Knowledge Graph, bringing you precise answers and ranked search results.
Take action directly from the notifications panel. Send emails, return calls, share photos and more. Notifications are expandable and you scan multiple emails, see event details or full images and more.

More accurate and relevant dictionaries have been implemented. Jelly Bean’s keyboard guesses the next word before you type it and voice typing now works even when you don’t have a data connection, and text-to-Speech capabilities have been improved.

  • Move between Home screens with more intuitive graphics and smooth transitions.
  • Enjoy more reactive and uniform touch responses.

  • Improved voice and data connectivity.
  • Native calendar settings have been improved for a better user experience.
  • Improved reliability and connectivity of Back Up Assistant Plus & Visual Voicemail.
  • Time stamp shown in outgoing multimedia has been corrected.

  • Video calling portal and Accessories Application has been preloaded.
  • Verizon Video has been removed.
  • Color Application has been removed.
  • Fully integrated Amazon app suite has been preloaded (includes Kindle, Amazon MP3,
  • IMDb, Audible, and Zappos).

When the rollout begins and you start REALLY making the most of you RAZR MAXX and MAXX HD, hit me up so I can start checking my software update button!

Peace out

Extra Jelly Bean Flavors Added With Android 4.2

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Nov 2, 2012 4:52:00 PM

Google is at it again. Along with announcing their new lineup of Nexus devices, Google threw in Android 4.2. There were many rumors out there that this new update would be the next software version following Jelly Bean (affectionately thought to be Key Lime Pie-which is my fav desert) but that wasn’t the case. With 4.2 came awesome new features, some that I’m totally amped to try out.

Photo Sphere

Google had a minor yet major update within their camera. Photo Sphere allows the user to take multiple pictures at once in multiple directions and it’ll blend them all into a pretty little sphere. Not only can you view these on your phone as a sphere, but you can also add them to Google + and Google Maps right from your phone.

Have you been getting sick of your drab lock screen photo? With this new feature you can either set up a slideshow of what pictures you have on your phone or set up information to scroll through from Google Currents. Kinda livens things up a bit.

Wireless Mirroring

This feature seems great on the outside, but it has a catch. Aside from the ability to mirror almost anything you're doing on your phone, I.E. videos, Facebook, YouTube and more, you can’t really do it without a wireless display adapter and an HDMI- enabled TV.

Multi-User Support

I think this is my favorite part of the new update. With this, you can share your tablet experience with others. Instead of cluttering your main screen with someone else’s apps, you can set up a secondary user. On the other side, you’ll find you can have separate apps, backgrounds, lock screens, widgets, games, etc. Sadly, this option will only be available for Tablets.

Gesture Typing

Google is taking their keyboards to the next level. I’ll admit that it’s very reminiscent of the Swype app but I think Google is taking a great forward step. Not only do you slide your finger from letter to letter, but it’ll also anticipate and predict your next word for you.

Google Now

This really isn't new for anyone who already has Jelly Bean 4.1. Google made due on their promises and they added more cards to the Google Now stock.

In the latest update, you’ll get

  • Flights
  • Hotels
  • Restaurant Reservations
  • Events
  • Packages
  • Movies
  • Concerts
  • Stocks
  • Developing Story & Breaking News
  • Nearby Attractions
  • Nearby Photo Spots

I can’t wait to try out all these new features. If you're just as excited as I am, you’ll have to wait a little bit. So far, the only devices to get this new version of Jelly Bean will be the newly announced Nexus 10 and Nexus 4.

 Peace Out

Two New Smartphones Continue the DROID RAZR Legacy

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Oct 17, 2012 2:25:00 PM

New DROID RAZR Smartphones Now Available

DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD by Motorola have hit the shelves this week.

Last month, DROID RAZR M by Motorola launched as the full-screen phone with edge-to-edge display, and last week, two more exclusive DROID RAZRs have arrived – DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD by Motorola. Both smartphones continue the DROID RAZR legacy and provide the features and power that customers have come to expect.

As the most compact 4.7-inch smartphone, DROID RAZR HD is built with premium materials such as Corning Gorilla Glass and DuPont KEVLAR fiber. And to defend against the occasional spills and splashes, there’s a protective layer of water-repellant nanocoating.

DROID RAZR HD features an 8-megapixel camera and an HD display that makes movies, photos, magazines and websites appear with vibrant clarity. The Circles Widget makes it easy to view battery life, text notifications, missed calls or weather updates, right on the home screen. The smartphones are near-field communications(NFC)-enabled, so customers can use Android Beam to share contacts and maps directly to compatible phones.

DROID RAZR MAXX HD has the same features as the DROID RAZR HD but includes a battery that allows for up to 32 hours of normal use and double the internal storage to 32 GB. Customers can also maximize their battery life using the updated SMARTACTIONS app that features a new Driver Mode.

Both new DROID RAZRs run over 4G LTE, combined with Chrome for Android, meaning customers can enjoy blazing fast speeds that make downloading documents or surfing the Web a breeze. Verizon Wireless 4G LTE will soon be available to more than 245 million people in the United States. Also, both devices are Global Ready, so calling home or sending emails is possible from more than 205 countries around the world.

The DROID RAZR HD is available in either Black or White and has 16 GB internal storage. The DROID RAZR MAXX HD is available in Black and has 32 GB internal storage.

I can't wait to get my hands on these!

Stay tuned for my review!
