Posted by Cellular Chloe on Oct 28, 2013 3:14:00 PM

Halloween is a fun and mysterious time. However you want to protect your family from things that go bump in the night. Halloween is the perfect time to have Verizon's Family Locator installed on your smartphone so you know where your little ghosts and goblins are while they are out trick-or-treating. You may have kids that are on the age cusp where they are starting to become independent and want to go out on their own. Family Locator is a great way to keep some peace of mind when you send them out into the night.

Communication is the essence of being human. -Tammy Taylor (Autism Therapist)

All too often we take everyday things for granted; ordering lunch from a menu, reading a book, typing an email. Yet there are many people that can't enjoy completing these everyday tasks. For example, part of what is so difficult in the life of someone with autism is that even though they can think and feel and experience most of the same things the rest of us do, they cannot communicate it orally. They cannot physically say that they are too hot, cold or hungry. They lack the ability to communicate the most basic of things you or I might remark about countless times a day.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Update

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Jan 22, 2013 9:39:00 AM

Samsung Galaxy Note II Update or shall I call it a restart?

Imagine my surprise when I woke up to a software upgrade this morning that I wasn't even waiting for.
If you have a Note II, before you go getting all amped up. it was just a security patch.

Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update, SW Version
Baseband version: I605VRALL4 Build Number: JRO03C.I605VRALL4, for
your Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Device Enhancement
+ Android Security Patch added for additional security.

That's it! I don't know what they secured but it takes all of about 1 minute, then it restarts so you won't be inconvenienced for more that the time it takes to brush your teeth. That's what I was doing while it was restarting. Because it was so fast, I knew there wasn't going to be much to write home about but I just thought I'd fill you in on the deets.

One of Samsung's "Next Big Things" (Galaxy SIII) Gets Jelly Bean

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Dec 13, 2012 3:22:00 PM

For some reason I had myself thinking "the Next Best Thing that's Already Here" aka the Samsung Galaxy SIII already had Jelly Bean but alas it does not. It is still on Ice Cream Sandwich. So guess what, a device that I already thought was outstanding is going to get better. Trust me Jelly Bean is awesome! If it just included Google Now, I would be happy but the upgrade has much more than just that. It like Christmas morning is here already or will be Friday because that is when the update starts rolling out. A few Verizon devices already have Jelly Bean like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Droid RAZR HD family of 2.

Here is Verizon's release:

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Nov 30, 2012 4:11:00 PM

Click on the thumbnail above for full details

I'm not going to lie...I have been desperately waiting to get the most of my Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD. I mean with a name like Droid RAZR MAXX HD shouldn't it just give you the most right from the get-go? Well here's the deal. Any time now an update will be rolling out and here is what you can look forward to with the upgrade to the Android Operating System 4.1 (Jelly Bean). By the way, I'm calling it Jelly Bean Lite because there is a Jelly Bean 4.2 as well.

Just the right information at just the right time. Get today’s weather before you start your day, know how much traffic to expect before you leave for work and when the next train will arrive as you’re standing on the platform. Cards appear throughout the day automatically.

Sometimes you’d rather just speak your search query. Android lets you search the web with your voice, and it’s convenient for getting quick answers on the fly. It speaks back to you and is powered by the Knowledge Graph, bringing you precise answers and ranked search results.
Take action directly from the notifications panel. Send emails, return calls, share photos and more. Notifications are expandable and you scan multiple emails, see event details or full images and more.

More accurate and relevant dictionaries have been implemented. Jelly Bean’s keyboard guesses the next word before you type it and voice typing now works even when you don’t have a data connection, and text-to-Speech capabilities have been improved.

  • Move between Home screens with more intuitive graphics and smooth transitions.
  • Enjoy more reactive and uniform touch responses.

  • Improved voice and data connectivity.
  • Native calendar settings have been improved for a better user experience.
  • Improved reliability and connectivity of Back Up Assistant Plus & Visual Voicemail.
  • Time stamp shown in outgoing multimedia has been corrected.

  • Video calling portal and Accessories Application has been preloaded.
  • Verizon Video has been removed.
  • Color Application has been removed.
  • Fully integrated Amazon app suite has been preloaded (includes Kindle, Amazon MP3,
  • IMDb, Audible, and Zappos).

When the rollout begins and you start REALLY making the most of you RAZR MAXX and MAXX HD, hit me up so I can start checking my software update button!

Peace out

Windows Phone 8 Takes On the Powerhouse Smartphones

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Nov 13, 2012 4:27:00 PM
Chances are you aren't a geek like me, having worked in this industry for 12 years, so you probably don't know that Windows phone sales actually outranked the iPhone for the first 2 years while the "smartphone" category was still in its' infancy.

I was rather fond of my first Windows 6 phone, in fact, I'm almost positive it was my very first "smartphone," as I was never a huge Blackberry fan. After the enormous learning curve, it honestly was very clunky, I could get my email, use the 5MP camera and look at pictures on a large touchscreen, albeit resistive. The mention of the large touchscreen was meant to poke fun at the Blackberry. That 3.2" screen was heavenly!

Apple's iPhone and Android eventually romped right over Windows and Blackberry, taking over the marketshare. So for the last few years we have been talking about the battle between Apple's iOS and Android. WP8 will be be jumping back into the ring and I think it's coming strong. Microsoft is admittedly spending more on this "launch" than they've ever spent in their history. The question I am most asked is, which Operating System is better. More often than not, they mean between iOS and Android but I should prep you for the third OS that's making a strong comeback.

iOS Apple iPhone

Fixed ecosystem-everything is intergrated so it's very easy to use, sync, backup etc.
Very intuitive Interface makes for a short learning curve.
All devices are running the same version.
Devices running on iOS are extremely stable. No freezing or locking up.
