iPhone 4S
Just in time for shoppers to start thinking about the holidays, (how handy!) along comes another iPhone. The Apple iPhone 4S hits stores today, Friday, October 14th. Unfortunately it wasn't the iPhone everyone was hoping for but it is an awefully nice interim device.
I've save you the line that everyone else uses when explaing the new features, I'll say it once, then put it to rest."ummm, didn't Android already have that?" Many of the features are things Android has had for a while now. Okay, now that I got that out of the way, I'm like a new person!
Although the look and feel remain the same, Yawn, most of the new features bring the iPhone 4S up to par with many of Verizon Wireless’ current models and in typical Apple fashion, somewhat surpass some of the Android phones available. It has a dual-core processor, which a few Androids already have and it is sporting an A-5 chip, which will speed things up nicely. It is a world-phone making it more appealing to the business traveler. And of course it is now running iOS5, which has many new features.
Perhaps one of the most unexpected features on the new iPhone is Siri, which turns your phone into a digital assistant that you can propose questions and get real-time answers. For example, Should I bring an umbrella today? Siri will evaluate the weather in your locale and establish an answer based on it’s findings.
The features that needed refreshing certainly didn’t disappoint. An 8MP camera replaces the current model’s 5MP shooter and added Backside Illumination. The lens now has 5 elements with an f-stop of 2.4 making it faster. To non shutterbugs, that simoply means its gives 73% more light to the subject. and enables 30% more sharpness.
"Antenna-gate" is a thing of the past, it now has two antennas, one for sending and one for receiving. Another addition is mirroring via HDMI. This will allow you to connect to a TV that has HDMI input ot Apple TV and simulate or "mirror" what is on your phone's screen. This is an awesome feature for gamers. I am biting my tongue on the whole "you know who had this over a year ago..."
That's my quick disertation on the interimPhone4S. What I really want to know is are you going to buy it, buy an Android or wait for the 5?
Peace out!
