Wake Up Wednesday Verizon Wireless Phone News 8.18.10

8 Droids, 5 Feature Phones, 4 Tablet/e-readers, 2 Blackberry, 2 Netbooks, 2 LTE Aircards, 1 Palm and a partridge in a pear tree. Well that about wraps up the rest of the year!

If you are due for an upgrade anytime before December 31st, you can do an early upgrade on any 3G Smartphone. This is one of the best promos I've seen Verizon offer. There are some restrictions of course (it ends on August 31st) but it's still a great opportunity for someone whose phone is acting up or maybe you just plain ole', can't wait that long! There are 11 Smartphones making the scene prior to the end of the year, and I'm willing to bet even more will surface.

The Droids will cover everything from something for the yoots (that's "My Cousin Vinny"-speak for the youths) to a global Droid for overseas travelers. Don't worry there are still plenty of feature phones for the texters, PTT for the workers and Blackberrys for the businessmen/women. Whatever you are looking for, one...or four... will be out before the end of the year.

Samsung and Motorola seem to be busiest but we will hear from HTC, Blackberry, LG and a few old names as well as one or two new ones. It all starts in just a few weeks before we see another Droid.

Also due to hit in September is the ZTE Salute.
ZTE Salute

This is a slide out styled phone with the old alphanumeric keypad. I actually loved that style of keypad for texting, in fact, I was quite good at T9 texting. The manufacturers have forced us to all become QWERTY texters because not many phones offer that type of keyboard anymore. It'll be interesting to see if the texters will still embrace that or if they have truly moved on to QWERTY.
