Monday Matters An RSS recap of Verizon Wireless News 08.16.10

I guess it's "that day" again. That wonderful day that starts off our work week. Just think, if it weren't for Monday's, Friday's wouldn't be so celebrated!

Monday MattersDroid 3G Mobile Hotspot
Did you know you can add the 3G Mobile Hotspot service for $20/month, and up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices can share that Mobile Broadband connection on your Android device, making your Droid X or Droid 2 a roving hotspot!  Talk about empowerment!

The 3G Mobile Hotspot application is pre-loaded on both the Droid X and Droid 2 devices.  All you need to do is subscribe to the new $20, 2GB Mobile Broadband Connect/Mobile Hotspot feature to enable the application. 3G Mobile Hotspot will really help Droid X and Droid 2 owners Rule the Air!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • Once the 3G Mobile Hotspot application is turned on, all data used on the Droid X or Droid 2 (including data on device like email, web browsing, application downloads, etc.) will count towards the 2GB feature allowance – not just the data use from devices connected through 3G Mobile Hotspot.  VERY IMPORTANT>>> turn off the 3G Mobile Hotspot feature when not in use!
  • There are 3 quick/easy ways to keep track of usage:
  1. Dial #DATA from the device and review the Mobile Broadband Usage category on the text.  The Mobile Broadband Usage category is where Mobile Broadband Connect and Mobile Hotspot usage is captured (and any usage while the 3G Mobile Hotspot feature is turned on).  The Data Usage category captures on-board device usage (as long as the 3G Mobile Hotspot feature is turned off).
  2. Log in to My Verizon and check usage on the Data Usage tab (same category break-down as above).
  3. Simply click My Verizon handset app> select Usage> select Menu> select Data Details (same category break-downs as above).
User Guides; They ain't what they used to be!

When is the last time you referred to a "user manual" when you needed to figure out how to make something work? I almost never do, but then again, I am an anomoly of a "Gadgetista!" I do use them when I need scan codes for a remote control or to see what accessories are available because I'm also an accessory HOarder!

The reason I ask is because most manuals are now online, which is great, but sometimes you just want to open the thing and refer to it here and there until you've got the thing figured out and that's it.

Cell phone manufacturers now make these skimpy little "tips and tricks" guides now. You're lucky if they have a little nomenclature and a few how-to's. Well, I'd like to thank them for saving some trees but for crying out lous, not evenone is a geek like me. So the reason I'm yaking on about this is that we at Wireless Zone have all of the Verizon Wireless phones' user manuals on our website for your reading enjoyment! The full ones! Not the shabby ones they box up with the phones so if you have a question download the appropriate manual or ask me! I'll answer you here, or on YouTube.

To find a manual for your phone, click here, then select the appropriate manufacturer from the list
products and services
Find the phone you are interested in, the name is a liink to another page. Notice, sometimes there are several pages for each manufacturer.

Halfway down the page is a link for the user guide, under read/write a review. If you haven't done a review for your phone, why not do it while you are there, we'll mail you a shiny new gift card worth $10 off a purchase at your nearest Wireless Zone Store!

The other place we hide informative stuff is on our YouTube channel, which has close to 300 videos. Everytime a phone is released, I do about 5 videos on it. Overview, Set-Up, Messaging, Music and Camera. Then I may do a comparison or two, and sometimes Games or anything else that I am requested or think will be of use. So please visit and watch a vid or ask a question. That's what I'm here for!

That's it for today, enjoy the whole week, not just Friday!

Peace out
