Wake Up Wednesday Verizon Wireless Phone News 7.21.10

Wow, I really don't know what I can tell you this week. Without stating any specifics I can tell you there are about 5 Android devices around the corner, and a few Smartphones that aren't Android, and about 4 feature phones that aren't smartphones.

WinMo 7 is coming soon and it looks to be very different from any WinMo devices we have seen thus far. Thank goodness, otherwise it'll get pulled under the Android wave just like the WinMo 6.5 Fathom did.

Last week the Pantech Jest and the Motorola Droid X revealed themselves. The Jest is a nice phone for texters. The Droid X is a heavy-hittin', sleek-lookin', big-screened, walkin' the dog kind of smartphone. Of course it is, its a Droid! What makes it stand out? Well, I'll tell you...just a few though or we'll be here all day.

8GB on board Memory, 16 GB card installed
expandable up to 40GB
4.3" screen
SWYPE text unput built-in
3G WiFi Hotspot enabling 5 other devices to get on-line
8MP camera w/ Dual LED Flash
Upgradeable to Froyo in August which will have Flash 10.1
Media Share allows you to connect w/ other DLNA capable devices (PC, select Game consoles
HDMI Output allows you to connect to PC or HD TV and turns into remote to play video)

If you haven't checked it out yet, watch for more videos on our YouTube channel, read more in a previous blog article.

What to watch for the rest of this week (from me!)

MORE Droid X videos (including what sets it apart from other Droids and the Need for Speed: Shift Demo)
MORE Jest videos
MORE cool Android Apps

Also, I will be researching Trillion for Android, theSwift Key Beta Launch and anything else I can get my hands on. Thanks for checking in. Drop me a line, even if its to tell me what kind of phone you have and whether you like it or not.

Peace out

-CC
