If you are 40 something like I am, you'll remember back to Junior High, if you liked rock there were about 8 bands that you loved (Van Halen, KISS, Aerosmith, Def Leppard etc.). They were all classic rock, you scribbled their logo all over your notebooks and life was simple. Now, there are 100 million bands, you probably don't even know half the groups in the top 40 or half the songs on some radio stations. I'm using that reference to compare to the growth of gadgets out there!
Back then, the new technology was an Atari or Personal computers, CDs, Walkmans, VCRs, Answering machines, Portable phones, Cell Phones (yes, they've been around since '83) and Fax machines. That's it! That's what we got excited about!
The first cell phone was an in-car radio phone. There was a big radio tower in the middle of the city. The car had a huge 25 watt radio transmitter/receiver in the trunk. The handset was literally the size and weight of a brick with a button panel that let you choose between four channels. There was no accessories, other than the enormous bag it came in.
I know, it's taking me longer than normal to get to the point. There are so many products and services that even I, Cellular Chloe have a hard time trying to keep up with them all. I hate that because I like "being in the know" and I love to try new stuff out. Whenever a new phone comes out, I'm gitty like a schoolgirl. An Atari playin', acid wash jeans and slouch sock wearin', MTV watchin', walkman sportin', Madonna lovin' schoolgirl!
I am also an accessory junkie. A GADGET accessory junkie. Don't get me wrong, I love me some pocketbooks and matching shoes, but I love stuff that makes gadgets do even more stuff. So....I'm about to drive this baby home...I love apps. Whatever device I'm using, if there are apps available, I am all over it. This is why I am in my glory with Android. The iPhone is fabulous, but my heart belongs to Verizon Wireless. Our warehouse manager alerted me to this app that he uses on his Blackberry. When he made the switch to my old Droid by Motorola, he asked if it was available. I had no idea what it was. Now that I do, I can't believe the whole world isn't using it.
It's called Drive Safe.ly If you have been following me at all, you know that I am trying to walk in Oprah's shoes, admiring her End Distracted Driving campaign.

Video demo
I don't know if it's ongoing but the app for the whole year is only $13.95 on sale from $39.95. You can get a family pack or Business License as well.
If you are too cheap to buy the full app, the biggest difference is that it probably won't read your whole email. It only reads the first 25 words. You can't personalize the voice or use an auto responder.
Here are the differences between the trial and the full version:
Do yourself, your friends and family and everyone on the road around you a favor and download this app. Free version or full version. ARIVE ALIVE. Now get it done.
Peace out,
