Join Cellular Chloe to Take the Pledge to NEVER TEXT and DRIVE

Posted by Cellular Chloe on Mon, Sep 30, 2013 @ 02:36 PM

Texting and Driving; we've all done it, we've all seen people doing it, probably on your way to work this morning, but it has to stop. Every year there are more than 100,000 texting-related car crashes and that number is growing exponentially.

When Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint agree on something, it must be powerful! Back in May of 2013, the 4 carriers launched a campaign to irradicate texting and driving by simply asking users to Take the Pledge to NEVER TEXT and DRIVE. They launched a great website titled It Can Wait complete with videos of celebs taking the pledge along with some PSAs and ways to get involved.

For example, they suggest you post a selfie, like the one below to your social media sites, like Instagram, Facebook, tumblr etc.
#itcanwaitHere is a file you can download to use as a cover photo to let your friends know you are behind the #itcanwait campaign.

The site even has a driving simulator that syncs with your smartphone and sends you texts to show you how dangerous it is to text and drive in a protected environment.
Get the word out there. Use an app if you have to that will keep you from being tempted like Drivesafe.ly or AntiTexting Safe Driving App No text is worth your life or someone else's.

Help me spread the word, print these and post them in your workplace.

what a great idea!! , normal policeing has not done the job in curbing this very dangerous behaviour. If individuals take responsibility for their actions a positive result may occur.

I absolutely agree. Unfortunately we live in an existence where people just don't always do the right thing.
The threat of a ticket, hefty fine, an accident or even taking someone's life doesn't seem to be enought to make people stop doing it. The bottom line is #itcanwait. If it can't, people should use voice dial/bluetooth and make a call but never take their eyes off the road. It only takes a second for a child to run out into the road. If you are texting, you'll never see that child until its too late.
Thanks so much for reading my blog and weighing in Frank!
