Are you are coming to the end of your cellular contract? If you are anything like me, and I am referring to the techie part, you are in the middle of one of the biggest decisions ever; which wireless device do I pick? I ripped off the following analogy from our very intuitive HTC rep, Manny. "Out of anyone and anything in your life, your cell phone is the one thing you spend the most time with. You carry it everywhere with you. It's on your night table when you sleep. You'll spend more time over the next two years with your cellphone than you will spend with your spouse."
You're probably thinking, where is she going with this? Well, I'll tell you. Make sure you take the time to pick out the one that's right for you. This is where going to a department store or even an electronics superstore is probably not the right choice. We are training, training, training constantly so we know as much as possible about our devices so we find the perfect fit for you when you come in looking for a phone. The one thing I want to impress upon you right now is that this is an EXCITING time for the wireless industry and there are so many great devices here and coming. Do your own research is you have to, and I'm here to help, hopefully to help you make the right choice. I am not biased about the products. I'll tell you if I think something sucks, or at least sugar coat it and not say sucks, maybe just stinks! I won't hold back but I will tell you, I am biased about service. Yes, our carrier is Verizon Wireless, but I also believe that its the best. If you know me, you know once in a while I'm busy iPhone bashing! Usually not about the phone, but about AT&T. I think the iPhone is awesome. I'm a Mac, I'd love to have an iPhone. If you have one and I bash it, it's probably because I'm jealous. NOT ANYMORE!
I've got my hands on a Droid and its amazing. But that's me. I love technology. There's something out there for everyone. There are some new devices coming out that are not Droid that are fantastic and probably going to get lost in the Droid shuffle but I want to tell you about all of them!
Push-To-Talk
So lets start with the easy stuff! Yesterday, I saw the Samsung Convoy u640. It is a Push to Talk device that should launch around Black Friday. It meets military specs for h20 and dust resistancy. Its has threaded messaging and its amoung the first PTT devices that offers Field Force Manager, which is a business tool to help you keep track of your employees, while they are on the clock. It is a nice durable device with a rubberized coating around the outside so it looks like it can stand up to the riggers of a hand-on job.
Casio G z'One Rock is still looking like a mid-November release. Another PTT, military spec'd device which replaces the G z'One Boulder.
V860 Motorola Barrage has just been re-released and is available in camera and non-camera versions. Has field Force Manager and meets military specs for every condition you can think of, including submersing it in water for 30 minutes. 2.0 Megapixel Camera & Camcorder, VCast Music and Videos, Media Center, Dashboard with Mobile Web, Mobile Broadband Connect Capable.
The next category of phones is the Feature Phones. In all honestly, this is a quiet category this month, which is probably a good thing because these devices are already getting overshadowed by the Droids. But the Chocolate Touch VX8575 due out Friday is a really great device. For someone who is interested in music, texting and making calls and doesn't need all the features a smartphone or Droid has to offer, this is the device to look at. Read more here.
That brings us to Smartphones.
Samsung Omnia II Due around Black Friday. Another great device that I hope doesn't get ignored. This is a WinMo device. It will be launched with 6.5 so it will include the Windows Marketplace. 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA resolution touchscreen, TouchWiz
2.0 make it very user friendly compared to using WinMo on the device, 3D cube
interface, does it have SWYPE technology? I don't know if I'm allowed to say. Lets just say if it did, it would be very awesome to use, not to mention a very fast and intuitive way to input type.

I haven't had much time to get any feedback on it so if you have any, please let me know how you are likin' it.
Blackberry Curve 2 due out in November. Not sure the exact date but it will be Black Friday, the latest. It's sportin' WiFi but not sportin' a trackball. Too many problems with the trackball so RIM has opted for the optical mouse type naviagation. The original Samsung Omnia has it. It might take some getting used to but at least it won't be sticking or hanging up from dirt, etc. getting trapped inside.

The Rumors.
Many a forum or article have I read and somewhere along the line I read that there are to be four Droids out by the end of the year. In total there will be 2 Motorolas, both with slide-out keyboards and 2 HTC, both with virtual keyboards. The second Motorola will be called the Calgary and the second HTC will be called either the Passion or the Dragon or maybe something else entirely.
Good luck deciding and REMEMBER, do some research so you find the one thats right for you.
